An opposing pair of hand carved reclining buddhas in rosewood

These absolutely wonderful, old, hand carved rosewood opposing pair of buddhas are really exceptional pieces. The detailing is just superb and the patina is perfection.

These large buddhas have shishi companions and sit on separate thorn encircled bases.

The buddhas and shishi have glass eyes, with the buddhas’ teeth likely being carved bovine bone.

Absolutely delightful things and very rare to find a true opposing pair.
