An early anatomical model of the torso

A beautifully modelled, Rouilly/Somso style, very large (full life size) head and torso model by Italian maker Paravia Torino. A very rare piece.

This mid-century Italian anatomical bust was produced by Produzione Scientifica Paravia, known for its accurate anatomy models. The bust was created by drawing upon, then developing and improving papier-mâché methods begun in the early 1890s.

This rare piece is itself papier-mâché and plaster, hand painted and numbered.

It is a truly beautiful thing and though not at all perfect, and with no organs, it’s a rare piece and truly a striking item.

A splendid addition for any collector or an outstanding decorative piece.

Please note that when boxed this will be large and weighty hence the higher postage charge.
