A very large 19th Century wooden artist's lay figure 23"/59cm

A fantastic, tactile old wooden artist’s lay figure. Beautifully carved in pine. This chap is extremely characterful and deeply endearing. We have named him Adam.

Adam has a wonderful, rich patina and is of a good, obvious age- mid to late 19th century. He is constructed using the traditional ball joints and peg fixings.

Adam has been lovingly made, sparing no detail, and places such as his muscular torso have been rubbed to a sheen through decades of handling.

The wood has been left- he is in 'as found' condition.

A substantial and very special piece not to be missed. Pieces like Adam are increasingly rare to find, especially so at this large size.

He is waiting for you.
