A very rare and very large advertising crate for Captain Webb matches by Bryant & May, c.late 1800s.
Captain Webb was the first person to swim the English Channel unaided in 1875 (he died in 1883 trying to swim the whirlpool rapids below Niagara Falls).
This rare survivor has that striking red lettering on two sides. It displays so well.
This piece makes great storage, but is superb as a plinth/stand or table. It would work in a commercial setting or at home. We absolutely love it!
Both a very attractive and very useful piece. You won’t find another!
