A truly exceptional and very large 19th century magnifying lens, mounted in a wooden surround.
We believe this channer type magnifier may well be nautical in origin.
The lens swivels and can be removed from the stand- it’s highly unusual to have a wooden trestle.
The shaped brass plate is a wonderful old repair to the mount. Beautifully done and giving an insight into the life of this old piece.
We’ve not seen better!
