A tiger bamboo Chinoiserie dressing table mirror

One of the prettiest mirrors we’ve had, this beautiful tiger bamboo example is wonderfully made.

Authentically Victorian or possibly earlier, no detail has been spared. The base sides have a floral motif, and on the back, embossed flowers; the tops of the bamboo supports are turned and there is a rattan flourish on top. The mirror is heavy and bevelled. The black lacquer top is so wonderfully decorated with a red bird and foliage.

The knobs do unscrew and the hinges unlock and open to allow the mirror to be removed or adjusted.

Just such a carefully made and beautiful piece, not without wear and losses as seen, but so decorative.
