A gorgeous late Victorian/early Edwardian mahogany pedestal desk. The proportions are great on this example: it is ample without being too large.
For us, this piece has the perfect patina with the right amount of age related wear. It’s in great overall condition and structurally it is solid and sound.
All drawers have brass locks (no key). All the Regency style ring handles are present.
Each pedestal has 4 drawers and there is one central drawer (9 in total). The two bottom drawers on each side are deeper.
Tooled gold design to the perfectly worn russet leather pad.
A wonderfully stylish and useful piece, looking for its new home.
PLEASE NOTE: This desk is one piece- it does not separate.
Overall width 125cm x depth 58cm
Kneehole height 60.5cm x width 43cm
Condition: Where there are specific points to note we will detail these as far as possible but please be aware that all our items have wear commensurate with age and are as seen in the photographs. If you require any specific information please do not hesitate to get in contact. As seen in the images, but not limited to: overall wear, knocks, marks etc as seen. There are some small veneer losses. The leather top has wear as shown- a look we love! Good sturdy/solid construction. There is no difference in tone/no fading, the apparent colour differences of the two ends are the light. The back is not veneered- this desk is meant to stand against a wall.
