A large pair of ‘Royals’ red deer horns mounted on a wooden shield

A very large, antique set of ‘Royals’ red deer antlers.

With the wonderful inscribed provenance of Arundel Park, and unusually also with a metal band at the bottom point of the shield, inscribed ‘W Tilly Arundel’.

All signs of absolute quality. You will not find better.

We can find a W (William) Tilly listed as harness maker on the High Street in 1867, as well as numerous mentions of the Tilly surname in Arundel Castle’s archives. A fascinating bit of history, worthy of further research!

Beautifully mounted on a shield atop a shield. Ready to be hung.

Gloriously worn with that perfect look, full of character.
