An absolutely breathtaking wooden Brahma statue, a leading god and heavenly king in Buddhism. This carving likely originating in Myanmar, formerly Burma.
Sitting on a lotus flower, this intricately carved Brahma is serene and has a superb presence. It is the most delightful piece, with a fantastic patina and details picked out in gilt. Likely made from mango wood. Hand carved, hand painted and unique. We absolutely love this substantial polychrome piece, and the wonderful way it is showing its real age.
This flat-backed Brahma has a truly wonderful presence and will look divine in any setting.

Condition: Where there are specific points to note we will detail these as far as possible but please be aware that all our items have wear commensurate with age and are as seen in the photographs. If you require any specific information please do not hesitate to get in contact. Please note: general surface wear as seen- this piece looks like it has been outside and has developed a great patina. Stands well on its own or can be wall mounted. There are some splits to the wood and it is an old, delicate piece but is holding well. The foot is not broken: when the piece was carved the foot was made separately and added afterwards.
