A large bronze blackamoor statue

Sometimes a very special piece comes along, and this is such a piece.

This exceptional, fascinating figural bronze sculpture depicts a kneeling gentleman in the blackamoor style.

A work of true beauty, so wonderfully cast (using the ‘lost wax’ technique). The detailing is excellent from the curls of the hair, folds of the cloth to the rear foot that protrudes behind the gentleman (it would have been very easy to leave this detail out but it’s testament to the quality of the piece).

We had this piece back in 2016 and have now been lucky enough to purchase it again. We were told on our first purchase that this bronze once filled a Harrods’ window display back in the early 1980s.

A striking size at 95cm x 75cm, this life sized piece will be the focus in any room.

We are so glad to have this gentleman back to stay. At least for a while...
