A gilt bronze Gothic letter rack with bat and griffin motifs

A large and very unusual 19th century letter rack.

This rare piece is wonderfully Gothic, the arch upon arch design, flanked by griffin heads and sitting on bat head feet! it is so striking; just wonderful.

We cannot find another piece like it. Stamped verso ‘L B’ in a striated hexagon.

We believe this piece is gilt bronze but please do satisfy yourself.

A very special piece of superb, rare desk furniture.
