A gorgeous late Victorian pedestal desk. The proportions are great on this example: it is a good, large, deep size.
For us, this piece has the perfect patina with the right amount of age related wear. It’s in good overall condition and structurally it is solid and sound.
All drawers have locks (no key). All the handles are present.
One pedestal has 4 drawers, there is a large central drawer, and there is one drawer over a useful cupboard in the other pedestal. Currently the cupboard is an open space but it has internal recesses left and right so you could slide in shelves. The two pedestals are raised on castors.
Plain blue leather pad which is nicely worn.
A wonderfully stylish and useful piece, looking for its new home.
PLEASE NOTE: This desk separates into three pieces- so it is easy to transport and manoeuvre into place in any spot.
Overall width 152.5cm x depth 79.5cm
Kneehole height 58.5cm x width 69.5cm
Gent is 6ft for scale and skull is life size!
Condition: Where there are specific points to note we will detail these as far as possible but please be aware that all our items have wear commensurate with age and are as seen in the photographs. If you require any specific information please do not hesitate to get in contact. As seen in the images, but not limited to: overall wear, knocks, marks etc as seen. There are some small veneer losses. Good sturdy/solid construction. The drawers have been repaired at the rear using tacks and glue. Not visible when in situ but not a pretty job! Central heating movement to rear of pedestal.
