A truly stunning, unsigned, original chalk drawing after Guido Reni’s 17th Century “Ecce Homo” (Behold the Man).

The board bears a French label verso for a seller of art materials, who we believe was at the stated address from approximately 1835-1853 giving us a good though not definitive idea of date.

The level of detail and realism in this piece of art is exceptional (the eyes are breathtaking) and is certainly by the hand of a Master.

Being behind glass, an impossible piece to photograph the beauty of; far better in reality.
