A profusely carved Anglo-Indian table by Jubbar Khan & Son

Quite simply the best table of its kind you will ever see. And you’re unlikely to ever see another.

This absolutely stunning, beautifully, skilfully and profusely carved table was made by master craftsman Jubbar Khan & Son in Srinagar, Kashmir.

It has an unbelievably delicate intertwined orchid design, all carved from one solid piece of wood. The base displays the same level of skill.

An almost complete label remains underneath (we have shown a complete example from a Bonham’s auction and a picture of Khan’s working region- the 3rd bridge at Srinagar- in the composite image). The label reads ‘Made By. Jubbar Khan & Son. State wood Carvers and Papier mache Makers. 3rd Bridge Srinagar Kashmir’.

A good, large size at 71cm.

The two parts do separate and the metal pins shown keep the two parts together if and when required (not all pins are present).

A wonderful, rare thing.

One of several Oriental/Anglo-Indian/Moorish tables on offer in this style, of which this is head and shoulders.
