A large Palm Reader fairground mirror

An absolutely gorgeous and very unusual, large, vintage fairground ‘palm reader’ etched mirror.

This substantial sign (89cm) is beautifully detailed, and housed in a painted, swept wooden frame.

The sign’s lettering has been hand etched in the thick mirror coating in reverse, along with a lined border. This has then been painted in a light coating of paint (this could be illuminated if you wanted to create a back light for it). As the mirror is etched from the rear, there is no risk of rubbing away the lettering. The mirror panel sits on a delicate line of red velvet within the frame’s rebate. The whole piece is suspended by an old steel chain.

A truly beautiful and rare piece.
