A large 19th Century carved wooden Buddha in maravijaya

This is a stunning, early Buddha in maravijaya. It is an impressive size and has real presence.

Beautifully carved from wood, this piece has the real patina of age. It is at least 19th Century.

It is a very substantial piece standing at 65cm tall.

There is wonderful craqueleur to the surface and traces of the original polychrome paint.

A simply superb piece.

The images shows this piece fully. There are traces of wax on the wood which could be removed, and the arm has an old repair (with early rusty nails and later glue traces) which is steady but could be improved if desired.
