A carved wooden bird head mask from the Dan tribe

A wonderful old Dan tribe bird-form mask from the Cote d'Ivoire.

The mask has a beautiful patina and is hand carved. An original 19th Century piece with good provenance from the estate of Dr James Bynon (former lecturer in Berber at the School of Oriental and African Studies- SOAS, University of London).

Condition: Where there are specific points to note we will detail these as far as possible but please be aware that all our items have wear commensurate with age and are as seen in the photographs. Please note the natural cracking (due to age) to the wood on the inside of the beak.
