A folk art bone John Wesley

A wonderful, large, folk art depiction of John Wesley, founder of the Methodist church.

These miniature likenesses of Wesley were made from horse vertebrae and hand-painted (we believe this one is vintage rather than antique).

John Wesley was an English cleric, theologian and evangelist who was a leader of the revival movement within the Church of England known as Methodism (the few of these types of pieces which have been documented state they were made to poke fun at his new evangelical religion of the period).

This example is huge! These are rare pieces.
