A pair of rare framed Japanese kimono design bookplates

An exceptionally rare pair of large framed, original woodblock printed bookplates displaying superb, formal kimono designs taken from Kuretake - a Japanese kimono design book by Ichida Yaichiro. The book itself is beyond rare and fetches a small fortune!

These prints date to 1898 according to the provenance on the reverse of the frames which is in keeping with the dates of early copies of this book. One copy of this book resides in the British Library and another at Tokoku University in Japan.

The beautiful designs are so intricately and delicately detailed.

You will not see these again.
