A beautifully naive, original oil on canvas. Huge size. 19th Century.

It’s a wonderfully dark painting, with billowing, voluminous red curtains and red chair, and a scholarly young gentleman depicted, his learned tome in the foreground.

Nicely framed. Period. Maple veneer and bevelled edge. Some losses. 

This piece has absolutely the right look.
