A rare 19th Century Coalbrookdale Dog & Serpent bench

We have not seen better than this! Only the second design registered by the Coalbrookdale foundry on 6th April 1844, the dog, grape and serpent design is a true early Victorian classic by the quintessential English maker.

Sinuous, tactile, elegant and mystical; we absolutely love it.

This example is fully stamped to the inside of one cast iron end. It is guaranteed original.

The wood is full thickness, even being shaped to accommodate the terminals at each end. This bench is extremely heavy and superb quality. It is structurally rock solid and sturdy, and is a full sized example at 161cm.

A sound investment and a piece to bring a lifetime of joy.
