Published by Dulau & Co 1887

A rare, truly wonderful book, dating to 1887 and comprising 625 spectacularly detailed plates.

Interestingly, the book is stamped for the Hensol Castle colony*

Perfect for display or reference.

Dimensions:

All approximate

26cm x 18.5cm x 5cm

*Hensol colony: In November 1926 the castle and estate of 1,082 acres was sold to Glamorgan County Council for the sum of £36,500 for use as a County mental hospital. Hensol hospital was opened in July 1930 as a "colony" for 100 men with learning disabilities ("mental defectives" in the awful terminology of the time).

Condition:

Where there are specific points to note we will detail these as far as possible but please be aware that all our items have wear commensurate with age and are as seen in the photographs. If you require any specific information please do not hesitate to get in contact. Please note: the spine cover is starting to fray- it is all together well though. Some light annotations by the previous owner including some careful colourisation. Nonetheless a fascinating book with stunning plates.
