A large Clarke Chapman & Co Ltd parabolic mirror

A superb, large, parabolic mirror which throws the most amazing distorted reflections.

By Clarke Chapman & Co Ltd, who are a company founded in Gateshead in 1864 and still in operation today (originally this piece would have had a military use).

A perfect wunderkammer piece, or for the military collector.

The mirror is glass, silver backed, with a lead backing on which various data is printed.

A rare and unusual thing.

In the centre of the mirror on the inside is a circular etching with a cross hair to the middle and an arrow pointing up. This is marked OPTICAL CENTRE and CRATER LIP DISTANCE 4.6 INS. See photos.
