An 18th Century cast iron-banded wooden chest

An exceptionally handsome late 18th century iron banded chest. Extremely useful and useable.

This example is richly patinated, both the wood itself and the banding.

There are beautiful cast iron heart-shaped handles to each side.

The whole chest has wonderful iron patches where the trunk has been repaired and strengthened across the centuries.

Internally there is a good, deep storage capacity, with a lidded side or candle box. The half lid to the main portion of the trunk means that decorative pieces such as a lamp can be placed on top and don’t need to be removed each time to gain access.

An absolute joy for a lifetime.

Please be aware that this piece is exceptionally heavy and is at least a two strong person lift.
