A Raj era lion’s tooth in a gold mount

A superb, very large Raj era big cat tooth, believed to be from a lion.

This large specimen is mounted in a chased gold setting, marked as 9ct but untested.

This piece was acquired from the Malde family who were a well known Arusha (Tanzania) family, who collected African art and artefacts widely up to the 1960s (https://www.si.edu/object/siris_sil_595964).

A wonderful piece to wear or display.
